Marina International School’s Interact Group last Friday donated supply of food including some household materials to Brusubi Wulinkama Orphanage.

Some of the items donated by the Group included four bags of tomato paste, 20 liter gallon oil, bags of rice, packets of jumbo, packets of soap, toiletries among other valuables.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony in Brusubi, Fatou Jobe, the caretaker of the orphans, highlighted the significance of the donated items in the lives of the 25 orphan girls and two boys.

She used the occasion to lament challenges underpinning the orphanage such as paying rent.
However, with partners like the Interact Group, Madam Jobe said there is light at the end of the tunnel.

“Working with orphans is not an easy thing. Interacting with children, one needs lots of patience and preparedness,” Jobe said.
Andrew PK McCarthy, the chief coordinator of the Group, said he was touched having seen one “great woman” tendering to 27 orphans.

He said the Group has been doing charity work for the last 25 years.
Mr McCarthy called on others to help the vulnerable children.
Presdient of the Group and head girl of Marina School, Sareh Kassem, expressed similar views.
