It reads: “The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology wishes to bring to the notice of the general public that Banutu Business College, that claimed to be a licensed university in one of the national papers, is not an accredited and licensed university by law. Accreditation and licensing of universities are presently the mandate of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology until the establishment of the National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority.
Students registered to this institution as university students are therefore urged to heed this
warning, as they will be doing so at their own risk.
“Furthermore, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology would like to inform the general public that in as much as it encourages and promotes tertiary and higher education in The Gambia, it reserves the sole authority, or its delegated agency, to issue operational licenses to institutions within this category. All are therefore urged to adhere to this warning.”
