NGO donates teaching materials to schools in NBR

Schools For Gambia, Leipzig Chapter in Germany, has presented brand new school furniture and other learning materials to three schools in North Bank Region.

The donation is meant to support the beneficiary schools’ capacity. DHL HUB-Leipzig Germany paid for the shipment of the three forty-feet containers.

The beneficiary schools include; Beretto Nursery school, Medina Manneh Lower Basic School and Mbankam. The donated items include chairs, tables, cupboards, black boards and footballs. The Charity also distributed second hand clothing and face masks to the children of Beretto Nursery School.

Speaking at the various presentations Musa Sanyang, the chairman of the charity said the donation is necessitated to address the challenges faced by the schools.

He said supporting grassroots education is indeed worthy assuring the beneficiary schools that more of such gestures are in the offing.

Sanyang applauded the DHL HUB Leipzig for the payment of all the shipments of the three containers to The Gambia.

The Councillor for Kembujeh Ward, Alieu K Darboe who also doubles as the communication officer of the charity, advised the beneficiaries to wisely utilize the donated items.

“As a local representative, I would keep empowering the charity to continue the great humanitarian assistance to the communities in the areas of education, health, youth, children and women’s empowerments,” he said.

The Medina Sering Mass ward councillor Amadou Bah thanked the donors for the support.

He said the donors started reaching out to his school since 2000, and from that time to date, they have been very supportive.

The head masters of Medina Manneh and Mbankam Lower Basic Schools, Kebba Sonko and Lamin Demba, respectively, expressed delight over the donation and assured the donors that the materials will be taken good care of.

Buramanding Kinteh, the head master of Farafenni Proper Lower Basic School said the donation of the furniture could not have come at a better time.

Similar donations will be extended to the Kombos.
