By Omar Bah The National Reconciliation Party’s candidate for Lower Baddibu District, Bubacarr Makalo, has said that he is committed to reconciling what he believes is a divided Baddibu community. Babucarr Makalo, who is campaigning with the slogan “let justice guide our actions, equal representative for all” further stressed that the issues of misrepresentation in the parliament for the past two decades will be a thing of the past. “I am very committed to serve as the eye of the people of Lower Baddibu in the parliament. I will endeavour to associate myself with laws that will bring positive impact in the lives of not only my people, but Gambians in general,” he said. He continued: “I cannot assure that I will bring development in the constituency, but I will advocate for it at all times by engaging our people in the Diaspora to sketch the road map for development of Lower Baddibu”. He said he plans to set up a resource mobilization committee both home and abroad to raise funds to address some of the challenges in the area. He promised to establish an independent District Youth Assembly and a women’s federation to be non-partisan and serve as a lobby group for the youth and women of the district. “Our people in the Diaspora will be tasked to setup a credit union in the short term and then a micro finance in the long run to help youths and women to become entrepreneurs, especially in food processing, horticulture, fashion design, entertainment (music and film) skills education,” he noted.]]>
