For the first time in history footballers will be able to vote in Gambia Football Federation elections.
According to a correspondence from The Gambia Football Federation GFF, the players association, the last affiliated association of the federation will be constituted at a congress on October 23.

A letter informing all clubs about the formation of the body seen by The Standard revealed there will be an election of an executive committee to run the association on the same day. According to the GFF only existing players of its leagues are eligible to be elected into the executive.

The Players Association was created in the revamped GFF structures in 2012 by the Normalization Committee led by Omar Sey. The association enjoys the same status as the Schools football, female football, referees, Coaches and Female football associations with a right to vote at GFF congresses. However until now the players association was not put in place. At the time the Normalisation Committee said its formation would require some sort of work on the modalities example of membership.
