PURA fines Brufut’s Dekorey Ceesay for building petrol station without permit

The Authority wishes to inform the general public that following routine monitoring, it found Dekorey Ceesay, a service provider constructing a fuel station in Brufut for the purpose of carrying out petroleum supply operations without a licence.

Following an application to this office for a Petroleum Retail Licence, Dekorey Ceesay was duly informed by a letter dated 10th June 2020, that his application for a Petroleum Retail Licence was disapproved by the Hon. Minister for Petroleum and Energy.

Having weighed in the totality of facts surrounding this issue, the Authority has carried out enforcement action against the individual as follows;

Dekorey Ceesay as follows:

1.         To pay a fine of GMD D300,000.00 (Three Hundred Thousand Dalasi) for constructing a fuel station in Brufut without the required permit from the Authority.

2.         To stop all construction activities in Brufut.

The fine shall become due and payable within fourteen days from the 10th of May 2021.

PURA wishes to remind any person or company operating in this sector without a licence/permit to stop and apply to PURA to complete their legal obligations as required by Law.
