A Gambian entertainment group called the Rising Stars Africa is organizing a talent competition for young people with gifts in comedy, music, poetry and dancing, among others.
The winner of the competition, which will involve 500 participants, will end in December with their final programme to be held at the Kairaba Beach Hotel.
Mariama Bangura, the organizer of the event which is being held for the second time in the country, said the winner will get D100, 000 and a plot of land from Kombo Real Estate.
The talents show will be featured on the state television and audiences will get the chance to vote for their desired participants in any of the categories involved.
Gambian state telecommunications company, Gamcel, are the major sponsors for the competition and their marketer Alieu Dampha said they are motivated by the relevance of such initiative to youth development.
“We are happy to associate ourselves with a youth event like this,” Dampha said.
Other sponsors of the event include Sky High Group and they were represented at the event by Chidi Omenihu.
Omenihu said their company that usually deals in construction and estate business sees the talent competition as an opportunity for the young people to realise their natural callings.
The last year’s winner is Sonita Daffeh.
