Gambia coach Tom Saintfiet has explained that he did not include home-based players in his 40- man provisional squad because they might face travel difficulties. On Monday, the Belgian who is hell bent on guiding Gambia to her first Afcon finals, named his provisional list to meet Guinea in a friendly in Portugal ahead of November’s double header against Gabon in the Afcon qualifiers.

But speaking to Gambia Football Fans TV, Saintfiet said it could be very difficult to secure visas for home based players who may be rsfused to enter Portugal in the wake of the coronavirus surge with its restrictions. The coach added that he skipped the home based players considering the fact that there has not been any league since March.
The Scorpions who are leading in Group D of the Afcon qualifiers will travel to the Portuguese resort of Algarve to meet Guinea in friendly arranged to enable both sides to fine tuned for the resumption of the Afcon qualifiers .
