The Chief of Defence Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces, Masanneh Kinteh has said that GAF and the Senegalese armed forces are working tirelessly to ensure that they are able to work out some of the bilateral areas they committed themselves to.

Speaking shortly after a brief indoor meeting at the Army Headquarters in Banjul yesterday with the Inspector General of the Senegalese Armed Forces, CDS Kinteh said the GAF and their Senegalese counterparts are into a lot of military cooperation, key among them, he said, is capacity building.

“We have taken advantage of the high level visit to reiterate our commitment in working together in ensuring that we are able to work on some of the bilateral areas. I recently visited Senegal and one of the areas we discussed is capacity building and other important military areas,” he added.

On the visit of the Inspector General of the Senegalese Armed Forces, Kinteh said: “I feel very proud to receive General Ndiaye in the Gambia once again as you know he was the first head of the Ecomig. His contribution in the country and the region has been very significant. Ndiaye has been serving in the country since 1981.”

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of the Senegalese Armed Forces and former Ecomig military commander, Major General Francois Ndiaye said his visit is meant to see how the Senegalese forces are doing in the country.

“My mission is to make sure that everything is conducted hitch free. But before reaching out to our men on the ground, I thought it wise to visit the military authorities,” he concluded.
Major General Francois is accompanied by a six-member delegation and their visit is expected to last for eight days.
