Augustin Senghor a presidential candidate for next month’s Caf elections has said he would reformat the African Nations Championship CHAN. This competition is organised by CAF every two years alternating with CAN, whose peculiarity is that only players playing in a Club in their country can participate. However, Maitre Augustin Senghor who is also the president of the Senegalese Football Federation, said his idea would be to allow other players from the continent to be able to compete even if they are playing for a club outside their country. “It is good to maintain the current format but I am of the opinion that it is good to think about a new idea in the future to see how to make a mixed one with why not the CAN U23 which is played every four years”, Senghor said in an interview with the Cameroonian weekly New Star, picked up by APS. “We have to think about the possibility of opening it up to all U23s who play in Africa, not necessarily as we do now with players who play only in their countries. We should also open it to those who play in other leagues in Africa continent to ab eble to play for their countries,’ he added.
