Kandeh was convicted following his plea of guilt when he appeared before Magistrate Dawda Phatey of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court on Friday on a single count of stealing.

According to ASP Yaya Camara, the accused sneaked into the compound of the complainant on August 3 in Sukuta Nema and stole the said bicycles. He said the accused then took the stolen bicycles to the Latrikunda market for sale. A witness to the sale, who is a friend to the complainant, called him the following day and the police was involved who later arrested and charged him.

According to the prosecutor, only one of the bicycles was recovered which was later tendered as evidence.

Passing sentence, Magistrate Phatey said the convict has the intent of depriving the complainant ownership of his bicycles and therefore ordered him to pay the said sum or go to jail for six months.
