The Supreme Court of the Gambia yesterday presided over the hearing of the motion filed by the United Democratic Party to review its earlier decision delivered on the 28th December, 2021.

It could be recalled that the Supreme Court struck out the United Democratic Party’s petition against President-elect Adama Barrow, National People’s Party, Independent Electoral Commission and the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, alleging that the 4th December 2021 presidential election was fraudulent.

The United Democratic Party amongst others sought the Supreme Court jurisdiction to declare the election null and void, and the result invalid.

However, the Supreme Court struck out the said petition with cost of D200.000 awarded against the party.

Meanwhile, during the court session yesterday, lawyer representing the United Democratic Party Borry S Touray made his submission before the five-member panel of judges at the Supreme Court, urging the apex court to allow the application to review its earlier decision.

The matter was adjourned indefinitely and Lawyer B.S Touray was informed that the date for the ruling on whether the Supreme Court would hear or not the matter would be communicated in due course.
