The main purpose of International Day of Older Persons (Senior Citizens’ Day) is to raise awareness of the conditions of older people and to support them throughout the ageing process. And that is why it is celebrated 1st October every year and The Association for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (TAPEA) is not left out in the remembrance.
We at TAPEA wish to join our colleagues and sister organisations around the world to remember and celebrate elderly people on this day. As they are custodians of our culture and traditions.
The day is a special one for older people and senior citizens around the world. Older People deserves our respect and attention.
In addition to the wonderful things older people bring to our lives, a day set aside to honour them reminds us to take humble in the presence of long life and well-lived. We want to educate young people on many of the issues faced by the elderly, such as abuse and senescence the deterioration of mental physical processes.
We don’t know everything if we are lucky ade confers upon us a measure of self-awareness and wisdom. Focusing on the challenges faced by the elderly reminds us that there is still much to learn about ourselves and the world.
Finally, on behalf of The Association for the Prevention of Elder Abuse wishes all Older Person a wonderfully celebration.
