‘Violent change will not succeed in this country’

In an exclusive interview with The Standard yesterday, the former National Security Agency staffer revealed: “I was shocked to hear about this unfortunate terrorist attack on State House. Gambians are very loyal to President Jammeh and will never stand in support of such moves and they will always fail. President Jammeh is an honest and Allah-fearing leader which is why Gambians always support him.

“The Gambia is a blessed country that has enjoyed peace for many years since the time of our ancestors so no one can succeed in destabilising The Gambia. Those outside powers who supported these people and gave them those weapons should stop because Gambians love President Jammeh.”

When pressed to name the countries of which he made allusion for their alleged sponsorship of the ‘terrorist attack’ he was less forthcoming, saying: “Right now, I cannot name names because investigations are still ongoing. But very soon things will be clear. What I am saying is that outside powers cannot bring change to The Gambia because we love President Jammeh and will always give him our support no matter what. Gambians will decide for themselves when they want change and nobody can do that from outside no matter what.”
