Contacted by The Standard yesterday on the country’s preparations, GFF secretary general Abass Bah said they are working on participating in the tournament but are yet to conclude all the modalities. “Yes, we are told that December 4 to 16 is the period for the tournament and until we hear otherwise, that still stands and we are on our own internal preparations. Once we have completed that, we will come out to the public with all the information regarding our participation in the tourney,” he said.
With Zone A members Guinea and Sierra Leone affected by Ebola, many observers are of the view that they may not be invited to the Senegal championship. It is not also clear whether Cape Verde will honour the invitation to the Senegal championship which will be the first major activity of the Zone A of the Wafu which was split into two zones A and B. The Gambia is home to the headquarters of Zone A located in Bakoteh headed by Jammeh Bojang as secretary general.
