“A bench warrant is hereby issue for the arrest of the accused person to be brought before this court,” Magistrate Nyima Samateh said when the case was mentioned yesterday. She made this order after the prosecutor, ASP Musa Camara, asked the court to make an order for Jimmy Koita to be arrested.
“The accused was apprehended, charged and granted police bail. He has absconded and is nowhere to be seen. The prosecution hereby applies for the bench warrant against Jimmy Koita to be brought to court to answer to the charges,” ASP Camara said.
Mr Koita is accused of breaking into a store and stole milk packaging machines valued at D5 million from the stores at 14 Hagan Street Banjul that was shielded on court orders in April.
Meanwhile, the prosecution has asked for a month’s adjournment to be able to trace the suspect. The case resumes on October 20.
