Yaws creation has received 18 guests from the Netherlands on Monday evening for the upcoming two-day grand fashion exhibition slated for July 7 and 8.
The included models, musicians and other dignitaries.
Their arrival ahead of the two-day event is expected to make a great impact in the country’s modeling industry as the participants are set to network with the guests, Yaws CEO Awa Conateh told waiting journalists at the Banjul International Airport shortly after the arrival of the guests.
According to her, this is the first of its kind in The Gambia modeling industry adding that they are expecting many more guests from Africa, Europe and beyond.
According to Conateh, the 10 years anniversary is a milestone for her business and career and is something worth celebrating and given the role she played in the modeling industry, it is necessary to extend their work and Gambian modeling in particular to the international stage.
Yaws CEO also revealed that they are expecting more guests from Senegal and Hungary today.
“The event will also witness launching of the modeling for cancer foundation which is an initiative I am setting up in honor of my sister who died of cancer last year and she has been influential in my career,” she added.
Sani, who is one of the guests attending the event, said as a first timer in the country, she is really excited and looking forward to the fashion night where 20 countries will be taking part.
“I hope to go back home and relay this awesome feeling and experience to my people,” she added.
For her part, China, a 14-year-old high school girl and model from Holland, expressed delight for coming to a country which she described “as nice, lovely with hospitable people.
“This is a big event and I look forward to networking with models from countries.”
