Gambia Immigration Department on Friday decorated the 134 newly promoted officers.
The decoration ceremony was held at immigration headquarters in Banjul.
The promotion set is as follows;
1.Assistant immigration control officers- 34
2.Senior immigration control officers- 23
3.Sub-inspector- 07
4. Inspector- 11
5.Chief inspector- 09
6.Assistant superintendent- 10
7.Deputy superintendent-05
8.Superintendent- 09
9.Chief superintendent-08
10.Assistant commissioner- 06
11.Deputy commissioner-09 and
12.Commissioner- 03.
Speaking at the ceremony, director general GID, Mr. Buba Sagnia said: “The timely promotion is a proof of GID’s commitment under the guidance and leadership of the honorable Minister of the Interior to fulfill the security service reforms objective under the new government of the Gambia as well as adjustments to the change of governance and administration”.
He urged the newly promoted officers to strengthen GID’s professional capacity as it is very vital in the realization of our collective national security aspirations.
He said the promotion is testimony of the officers’ competent output and professionalism as well as being entrusted with higher responsibility to lead exemplary and to help their sub-ordinates to reach the best of their potentials in the execution of their duties.
He reassured GID’s commitment in providing reliable, quality and competent services for creating a better, safe and tolerant Gambian society that will allow the peaceful coexistence of citizens and non-citizens alike with great regard for their human rights.
Commissioner Ousman Lowe, on behalf of his decorated colleagues, said they are not only expected to do great work but inspire others.
“One of our most fundamental duties as leaders is to unleash the potential of our workforce,” he said.
