By Tabora Bojang After weeks of struggle to survive severe third-degree burns, 10-year-old Yaya Jamanka has breathed his last yesterday at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul. Yaya was accidently pushed into a bonfire and 75 percent of his body was burned and, until yesterday, he had been admitted at the hospital but died before he could be taken for overseas treatment. He was laid to rest at Tanji, Kombo south. Yaya’s horrific condition caught the attention of many with several online campaigns to secure funds for his timely treatment abroad. Last week, Friendship Zone Association put in over hundred thousand with almost the same amount by a Diaspora Gambian quickly following. The young boy was expected to go to Belgium for treatment after a confirmed medical report indicated he urgently needed an overseas treatment but died before everything was finalized.]]>
