His application for bail was however opposed by the prosecuting police officer Corporal Badjie who urged the magistrate to refuse Gissay’s bail. He reminded the court that the accused was supposed to be taken to the Mile 2 Central Prisons after he was sentenced by the Bundung court for a previous case but managed to escape from the police.

Mr Gissay however pleaded with the court to grant him bail, saying he did not escape from custody.

The magistrate granted the prosecutor’s request and remanded Gissay at Mile 2 prisons. Hearing into the matter is expected to commence on September 28.
