One Babagalleh Jallow, a convicted robber and murderer, has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court seeking to overturn his conviction and sentence.
Jallow and three other persons were on the 6th July, 2004 at Gidda Village in Kantoral District in Upper River Region, alleged to have robbed and murdered one Alhaji Bagally Touray, prominent businessman after stealing from his safe.
He was convicted of murder and robbery with violence by the Basse High Court presided over by Lamin AMS Jobarteh and subsequently sentenced to death on the 19th August. 2010.
The convict filed an appeal at the Gambia Court of Appeal challenging his conviction and sentence by the said Basse High Court but his appeal was refused and dismissed. He has now filed an appeal at the Supreme Court challenging the decision of the High Court and the Gambia Court of Appeal.
Meanwhile, the matter was adjourned to the next session of the Supreme Court.
