The government of the Gambia has withdrawn the appointment of Ebrima Manneh as the country’s ambassador to Washington DC, United States, diplomatic sources informed The Standard last night.
Mr Manneh was among the first people to be appointed in foreign mission following his return from the US but according to unconfirmed rumours doing the rounds on social media, Ebrima’s appointment was declined by the US government.
However, our source who preferred anonymity, didn’t say why his appointment was withdrawn.
Meanwhile, our source also confirmed that President Barrow has a new pick for the job but declined comment on the widely circulated rumor that Bakary Sanyang, a former head of Income Tax, is Barrow’s new choice for ambassador to the United States.
