Maurice J Gomez, a former employee of the defunct Daily Observer has filed a civil suit against his former employer for unfair dismissal and deduction of salaries among numerous other claims.
Mr Gomez, whose case was heard by Magistrate Nche Blessed Abergrie of the Kanifing Magistrates Court yesterday, claimed for the recoveries of the sums of D126, 000, D87,750.00, D2200.00, D27, 000.00 and of D30, 000 respectively.
The claims, according to the plaintiff, are for the recoveries of seven years and seven months’ salary deduction, thirteen months unpaid social security contributions, eleven days work for the month of May 2016, six months’ salary for unfair dismissal and three months as editor responsible for all the columns for January, February and March.
He is also claiming 25% interest and any other order the court deems fit.
The case is filed against the company as the first defendant and Augustus Prom as the second defendant.
Mr Gomez is represented by Ebrima Garba Cham of Labour Department while the defendants are represented by Gribil Bah.
The tribunal meanwhile has adjourned the matter to 7 August for continuation of hearing.
