Nfamara Jawneh, head of Beakanyang, a civil society organisation, has confirmed to The Standard that he intends to run for the April 9 National Assembly election in the Wuli West Constituency.
The former Point editor and Standard copy editor, did not disclose under which party’s sponsorship he intends to contest.
He told this paper: “Following consultation with my family, friends, women, young people and elders of Wuli West, I’m pleased to declare my interest to contest the forthcoming National Assembly elections in Wuli West Constituency.”
Mr Jawneh will battle it out with the respected veteran National Assembly Member for Wuli West, Sidia Jatta, and several others including the former APRC NAM Kasum Jallow and senior education officer Janko Jawneh who contested against Jatta on two occasions.
Mr Jawneh is a recipient of the United Nations Human Rights Heroes award.
