Gambia confirms teams for commonwealth Games beach volleyball qualifiers

Banjul, The Gambia. March 3, 2022 – The head coach of the Gambia national beach volleyball team Pa Baboucarr Barrow has confirmed his team for the Commonwealth Games beach volleyball qualifiers in Ghana this month.

The coach maintains Qatar-based and Africa’s top ranked team Sainey Jawo and Mbye Babou Jarra for the qualifiers in the men’s category.

Sainey and Jarra have been consistently pushing Gambia since 2019 and the duo is currently 92nd in the world. They are expected to be in Banjul next week for a two-week residential camp before heading out to Ghana.

In the women’s category Abie Kujabie has again made the cut into the senior female team, making her the most capped female beach volleyball player.

She will be paired with Anna Marie Bojang,  who will be making her debut in beach volleyball 2 -Aside competition after representing Gambia at the World beach games 4- Aside in Qatar in 2019.

The Commonwealth Games beach volleyball qualifiers will be held in Accra, Ghana from March 25th to 29th 2022. The winner of the qualifiers in each category will qualify to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham later this year.
