Fifa’s Development Officer for West Africa Sampong Kablan and several consultants from Fifa were in The Gambia last week for a week under the Fifa Performance programme aimed at assessing the capacity building needs of the GFF with a view of possible Fifa assistance.
According to Mr Jammeh, the visiting Fifa officials were generally impressed that the GFF was able to achieve a lot within this short period. ”The discussions covered many areas, including governance, regional football structures, communications, marketing and many others and I can safely say that very positive indications came out of the talks for the future of Gambian football ,”’ he said.
Meanwhile before they left, the Fifa officials formally presented over 1000 balls to the GFF which were distributed among various stakeholders, including clubs, women football and regional football associations among others.
