The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) yesterday presented D100,000 to one Isatou Jallow, a player of the national women’s team. The player got injured recently and is recommended to go for treatment in Senegal.
The GFF 3rd vice president General Lang Tombong Tamba said the GFF received news of Isatou’s injury with sadness and dutifully decided to assist her financially to facilitate her treatment in Senegal. He said footballers everywhere make great sacrifices for the country, adding that the GFF has a duty to protect and help them in anyway possible.
First Vice President Bakary Jammeh expressed sadness over Isatou’s condition, adding that the girl is young and has a long career ahead. “The GFF is here to support all footballers and we decided to come in because we know she would need food and accommodations among other things while on treatment in Senegal,” Mr Jammeh noted.
The injured player Isatou Jallow expressed gratitude to the GFF. “I have nothing much to say but I am very much delighted about this help. I was supposed to travel this month but because of my injury I couldn’t but hopefully in July or August I will be returning to my team. All I have to say is to thank the GFF and praying for all of you”.
The ceremony was also attended by the player’s family members and GFF Acting General Secretary Mr Kemo Ceesay.
