GOV’T ISSUES STATEMENT ON GAZA CONFLICT

The release stated that the government welcome the truce brokered by Egypt yesterday and called on the parties to “fully adhere to the terms of the truce so that the humanitarian crisis unleashed by the conflict could also come to an end in order to avoid further erosion of confidence in the peace process.

It added: “As a neutral party, The Gambia stands ready to mediate in consolidating the terms of the ceasefire or in any future negotiation between the parties. As a peace-loving nation, we pray for peace to reign in that part of the world so that children could grow up to live their childhood dreams.”
