According to a statement posted on the group’s official Facebook page, the decision to discontinue its participation was provoked by paucity of a level platform to compete for awards.
The statement maintained: “The management of the Humanity Starz after careful consideration would want to, with respect, announce its withdrawal from the Awards Night with immediate effect. This decision has been reached after we realised we have not been given the level platform to compete for awards of a ‘National Character’ supported by the Gambia Music Union and the Collecting Society of The Gambia.
“We would want to encourage such initiatives to recognise individual artistes and groups in our beloved country on a level platform. We would want to appologise to our fans and well wishers who have been supporting us for what we know how to do best MUSIC!! (MBALAH).”
