Abi had one month ago ordered Darboe to provide 5 million dalasi and two sureties owning property worth not less than 2.5 million dalasi to secure release on bail.
However, defence lawyer, Mr Sheriff Tambadou, said his client could not fulfil the previous bail condition. “He has a wife and several children who all rely on him,” Mr Tambadou pleaded. “My lord, if the bail conditions are not reviewed, he will continue to be remanded in custody.”
At yesterday’s hearing, Justice Abi revised the bail condition. Although he maintained that Mr Darboe should provide 5 million bail bond, he ordered him to produce five Gambian sureties who must have a landed property worth one million dalasi each.
