A man was found dead in his car on Wednesday while his vehicle was parked along the Latrikunda Sabiji-Brikama highway.
The deceased was identified as Dr Momodou Darboe, a research scientist working with the MRC Unit the Gambia.
One of his family members, Karim Darboe wrote on social media that his brother drove past him Wednesday morning when he was going for work at the MRC, adding that after he [Momodou] had closed, he was driving himself home, as he parked safely at Latrikunda, and died at his driving seat.
Dr Darboe’s former colleague, Sulayman Gajigo also wrote on Facebook: “The Gambia has lost a great scientist, a man highly dedicated to the fight against malnutrition. He was among the few nutritionists The Gambia was blessed with. Many other Gambians who knew him said Mr Darboe was a decent human being whose work and nature was devoted to helping the advancement of science and the well-being of Gambians.”
