Nominated member Majanko Samusa, has called on National Assembly Select committee on regional government and lands to begin monitoring councils across the country.
He claimed the councils ‘do not have the best interest of taxpayers at heart,’ neglecting their concerns every now and then.

He demanded the select committee be very ‘vigilant’ and monitor how these councils manage monies collected from taxpayers.
“I served in the first Republic and there was no tampering with taxpayers monies. Things were very fine,” he said.

He urged the Assembly to render full support to the electorates by tasking these councils. That way, he said development will reach the doorstep of every taxpayer.
Samusa was speaking Monday during the presentation of the NA select committee on local government and lands report.
