Police prosecutors in Basse yesterday pressed murder charges against Amadou Gagiko, Chimentang Kandeh and Sorry Baldeh. The trio are accused of killing one Alieu Badara Bah with a gun at Sare-Gubu village in Wuli East.
Appearing before Principal Magistrate Omar Jabang, the trio were slammed with two counts- conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
According to the indictment, on 5 December, 2021 the trio conspired amongst themselves to kill one Alieu Badara Bah with a gun.
During the hearing, prosecuting officer Sub Inspector Ebou Ceesay applied for the matter to be transferred to the Special Criminal Division of the High Court as the magistrate’s court lacks the jurisdiction to hear the case and also because the penalty attached to the offense is death.
Accordingly, Magistrate Jabang transferred the case to the Special Criminal Division of the High Court and ordered that the accused persons be remanded at Jangjangbureh prisons, pending their reappearance at the High Court
