A local organisation has donated a 100 bicycles which it hopes will help ensure students “timely” arrival for learning at schools.
The bicycles are said to cost D360,000 and will be distributed to schools in Darsilameh, Penyem, Jamisa, Kabafita, Bafuloto, Kuloro, Giboro, Faraba, Jarra Soma and Kafuta.
“The aim is to help deprived, excluded and vulnerable children in Kombo Central to have the capacity and opportunities to improve their lives,” according to Edrissa Cham, the manager of Saama Kairo Federation – the organisation that donated the bicycles.
The board chairman of the federation, Tijan Jarju, said the donation will “address the issue of lateness in schools.”

He advised the students to “take good care” of the bicycles.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Nyima Sanyang thanked the federation for the gesture and said that the bicycles will help their children “who trek long distances” every day to reach school.
As a federation however, they exist to help deprived, excluded and vulnerable children have the capacity to improve their lives and the opportunity to become young adults, parents and leaders who bring lasting and positive change to their communities.
