Police warns against illegal road carnivals

Press release

The Office of The Inspector General of Police has observed an increase in the number of music road shows or carnivals carried out using public address systems punctuated with loud music.
These are often done without Police Permit which is a violation of the Public Order Act. It has also come to the attention of this office that these shows cause traffic obstruction and passersby get harassed, molested or robbed in the process.

In this regard, organizers of such shows are kindly urged to get police permit before embarking on them. Anyone who fails to comply with this provision would be arrested and dealt with according to law.
In light of the above, all school authorities, parents and guardians are urged to warn their children to desist from such activities if police clearance is not granted.
