The PPP candidate for the Sanementereng Constituency Sheikh Tijan Cham has vowed to reunite the people of Sanementereng to bring about a meaningful development in his constituency.
In an interview with The Standard, Cham said his priority is to bring the community together such as the Alkalolu, Area Council, VDCs, village elders, the youths and the football committees to initiate and work on programmes that will effect meaningful development.
He said the various local committees are lacking effective cooperation and that they have got no ideas to come together in one forum where they can discuss matters regarding the community.
“My first priority is t bring them together. After we can go ahead with our development agenda like road communications and we aim to empower the youths,” he said
Cham also explained the numerous challenges that women are faced with when it comes to their horticultural and economic activities. He reiterated that he will cordially work with the government and other important stakeholders within the Sanementereng Constituency to fulfill their development agendas.
Cham is brimming with confidence, saying victory is certain and called on the electorate to desist from all forms of tribalism and come together as one people to exercise their civic and political rights.
“Tribal sentiments have no place in the Gambia,” he said.
