Confirming his appointment yesterday, Lamin Fatty commented: “Yes it has been confirmed that I will be taking over as the new managing director. The former managing director of the company has had a fulfilling time serving in the position and I am here to consolidate what he has achieved. The company has a great future and it is an opportunity for someone like me to be part of that future. I know it is a challenge given the fact that the former managing director who founded the company has set high standards. We hope to maintain those standards. I believe I have to play my part in the evolution of the company.”

Prior to his appointment, Lamin Fatty had worked as deputy production manager at the Daily observer until his resignation in 2007. Mr Fatty who also worked for Nova Scotia Gambia Association has served in different capacities including drama troupe coach manager, assistant regional coordinator and regional coordinator. In 2012, he was appointed as project manager for Catholic Relief Services – NSGA global fund malaria project.

Mr Lamin Fatty holds a certificate, diploma and advanced diploma in banking and finance from the Management Development Institute (MDI). He also holds a certificate in French Language from Alliance Franco Gambienne as well as a certificate in good governance and accountability with a human rights-based approach from MS Trading centre for Development and Cooperation in Arusha, Tanzania. He is now a sophomore at the University of The Gambia, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in management and finance.
