The incident, according to court records, happened on 27 December 2020, at Tanji village.

The charge sheet revealed that Ahmed Sowe, with malice and aforethought, unlawfully caused the death of Alimatou Sarr. Police prosecutor Cadet ASP Buteh Sawaneh said since murder is an offence punishable by death, he applied for the case to be transferred to the Special Criminal Division of the High Court as it transcends the jurisdiction of a magistrates’ court.

His application was granted and the presiding magistrate, therefore, ordered for the remand of the suspect at the State Central Prisons, pending the mention of the case at the High Court.
