The Gambia Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) Alumni have begun a recruitment drive for the next the 2018 Tony Elumelu Foundation entrepreneurs.
On Thursday, the alumni team comprising young entrepreneurs Mbadibba Cham, Gabriel Gomez and Kaw Yorro Cham were at The Gambia College in Brikama to encourage young entrepreneurs to take advantage of this amazing opportunity created by TEF.’
The team met with the students of the Public Health who were taken through the application process and the benefits that follow when one is selected.
Kaw Yorro Cham and Gabriel Gomez were the two lucky Gambian entrepreneurs for the 2017 and have benefited from seed capital form the foundation. They both encourage the students to apply as the foundation seeks to support 1000 African entrepreneurs each year for 10 years. Kaw Yorro Cham, an entrepreneur who is into health care informed the keenly listening students that the process is a quite long one but once they have the idea of impacting positive changes through entrepreneurship they should apply.
Gabriel Gomez is another entrepreneur in agribusiness said for one to apply, his or her idea or investment must be based in Africa.
Mrs Mbadibba Cham is an agribusiness entrepreneur who was part of the 2016 cohorts and she said the outreach is meant to see more Gambian entrepreneurs apply for the programme.
She said the Alumni team intends to visit many tertiary institutions to share with them idea behind the TEF programme and the application process.
Cham informed the students that nine Gambian entrepreneurs in different areas have so far benefitted from the programme since the start of the programme in 2015.
