At least 21 people from different constituencies have collected GDC nomination forms intending to contest under the party’s ticket in the April National Assembly election.
Disclosing this to The Standard in a telephone interview, Momodou ‘MC’ Cham, the youth president of the GDC said if all of the aspirants are confirmed, the party could end up contesting about two dozen constituencies.
The seats the party is likely to contest, include Jimara the home of party leader Mamma Kandeh, Kantora, Jeshwang, Serekunda West, Latrikunda Sabiji, Brikama North and South, Sabach Sanjal, and Niamina East.
The GDC youth leader said he himself has been confirmed to contest the Jeshwang constituency. ”I already have the all-clear to contest in my home Jeshwang and I am confident GDC will deliver that seat to the next assembly,” he said. He said the final list of candidates would be confirmed by the coming Tuesday.
