Last weekend the Senegambia Novelty Run officials were in Kaolack and Mbour in Senegal, the regional capitals on the route of the race that begins on Yelli-Tenda Bridge on January 18. The athletes will stop in Kaolack on the 18 and Mbour on the 19 th. Accordingly, the mayors of the two towns have hosted preparatory meetings to iron out logistics and other matters. The Kaolack meeting was organised by the Governor and attended by service chiefs, youth, women and cultural groups and potential sponsors. Kaolack will have a team for the road run and the regional sports committee was asked to encourage as many youths as possible to take part in the run. The meeting also received pledges from the women who have undertaken to provide dinner on Friday 18th and breakfast on Saturday 19th for all the athletes and officials sleeping in Kaolack. The region will also stage a cultural event on Friday 18th to welcome the runners. In Mbour the Mayor welcomed the organisers with a warm heart and similar hospitality. The seaside hotel Coco Beach has been reserved for the athletes and officials.
