Three people suspected of stripping a man naked and flogging him for alleged stealing have been taken to court and charged with assault and causing bodily harm and libel.
The trio, Momodou Basiru Saidykhan, Sarjo Singhateh and Alhagie Kujabi appeared before the Brusubi Magistrates Court which remanded them in police custody until Wednesday for bail hearing.
The accused are held in connection with a video that outraged many across the county and beyond.
It showed a mob beating a man they stripped naked. The man has so far not been identified but the police on Saturday promised they will hunt down the suspects and bring them to justice.
According to police PRO Inspector Conta, police were able to identify the three suspects using tipoff and the video. The PRO said two of the suspects instantly pleaded guilty but the third pleaded innocence.
