All five deputy governors have been sacked, reliable sources told The Standard.
According to our sources, the sackings happened over a week ago and affect all regions in the country. Our sources could not say who their replacements are. Those removed are Musa Suso of WCR, Cherno Bara Touray of URR, Malang Saibo Camara of CRR, Mustapha Saidy of NBR and Abdou Njie of LRR.
Like their Governors who have since been removed, deputy governors were appointed by the former President Yahya Jammeh mainly from among his APRC stalwarts. Governors and deputy governors are administrative positions but they are in most cases appointed by the President.
