Gambia striker Ali Sowe has joined Albanian Cup runners-up KF Skënderbeu on a one-year loan deal from Italian Serie A club Chievo Verona.
The Albanian Superliga side is the 23-year-old’s eight club that he has been sent out on loan to by parent club, Chievo.
Sowe said at his unveiling: “I came to Korçë to win everything. I do not know the Albanian championship very well but I’m happy to be here and wear the Skënderbeu shirt. I want to get in with the group as soon as possible and give my best to win everything.”
“I hope to win the support of the fans and I promise I will give my best. I hope I can help the club in achieving its goals.”
The Scorpions international, whose career in recent times has been blighted by series of injuries, is still yet to break into Chievo’s first team since making his Serie A debut with them in 2013.
Since joining Chievo from local side Gamtel in 2012, the 6ft 3in attacker has been farmed out to Juve Stabia, Pescara, Latina, Modena, Lecce, Prato and Vibonese all on loan.
He had his best season last year with the latter where he scored six goals in 18 appearances in the Serie C.
Skënderbeu are currently in the third round of qualifiers for the UEFA Europa League but will have to overturn a 2-1 deficit when they host Czech side FK Mladá Boleslav at the 12,000-capacity Skënderbeu Stadium on Thursday evening.
Sowe, who will don the number 90 jersey for the southeastern Albanian club, will hope to be leading the attack and put them through to the play-off round of the qualifiers.
