This, he said, demonstrates his party’s commitment to empowering young people by implementing the resolutions made during Nayconf conferences. He added: “The government of the day has done a lot by helping the young people through investment in meaningful sectors by creating more opportunities such as the establishment of satellite institutions for young people to venture into meaningful skills.
“The implementation of the resolution has led to the establishment of the National Youth Council. Young people of the country are boasting of Nayconf today due to the successful implementation of the past resolutions. The Nayconf gives delegates the opportunity to dialogue because participation in Nayconf is not based on politics but exchange of ideas for the government to look into.”
Mr Hydara added: “As patriotic citizens, we should agree that the APRC party has done a lot for the nation in the past 20 years as the president is always part and parcel of discussing youth matters and has established various satellite institutions to help the young people. What more can we ask for?”
For his part, the youth coordinator at the APRC secretariat called on young people to orchestrate attitudinal change in order to attain the vision 2016.
“Vision 2016 cannot be attainable unless and until we change our attitudes because all what we have said and done here calls for change of attitude. If that fails to happen then I see no way in how we can achieve the vision 2016. The young people of this country should take the responsibility and challenges to nurture the development of the country to higher heights.
“President Jammeh has outlined that everybody cannot be working in offices. Countries like China and Dubai are depending on agriculture which is why they are developed. We thank President Jammeh for coming up with this initiative to attain food self-sufficiency,” he said.
