— Says spokesperson By Omar Bah The spokesperson of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) Seedy Njie has said that the government welcomes ECOWAS’ move to continue pursuing a solution to the Gambia’s political crisis through mediation. “The decision of ECOWAS after a closed door meeting that they will continue to pursue a peaceful solution to the country’s political impasse is highly welcome by the APRC led government,” the nominated APRC parliamentarian told GRTS. He said the move shows that ECOWAS is reversing their previous decision of military intervention in the Gambia, saying “We want to make it very clear that the president is a man of truth and God is with those who stand for the truth”. “We also want to call on all citizens of this country to recommend the fact that as much as we welcome ECOWAS decision, we will continue to tell Gambians that APRC has a case in court. “The law is very clear, section 45 indicates that the Supreme Court is the only court that can validate or nullify results of elections and as far as we are concern President Jammeh is still our president,” he said. Meanwhile the new appointed APRC spokesperson further stressed that President Jammeh and the APRC continue to stand with the Gambian people and that the Gambia is a sovereign state with its own laws and constitution which he said is supreme.]]>
