Two senior members of the four villages protesting against the “self-proclaimed“ Alkalo Lamin Jarju have walked into the offices of The Standard yesterday to clarify a few things earlier published.
The duo, Ebrima DF Jarjou, former Councilor of the Lamin Ward and Kebba Ansu Jammeh, clarified that they didn’t talk with Ebrima Mballow as interior minister regarding the dispute, rather it was Lamin Dibba, the current minister of agriculture who was lands minister before cabinet reshuffle.
They also said the Alkalo of Kombo Kerewan Abdoulie Jarju was present at the press conference and even addressed the gathering not his representative.
The gentlemen, who showed a government statement about Lamin Jarju not being the Alkalo of Babylon, also said the number of people that died following the incarcerations was 2 and not 25. They however couldn’t conclude whether the two died during or after their imprisonment.
