Fish mongers of the capital Banjul were donated Monday with protective gloves, washing buckets and other items.
The items were donated by Maa Foundation for Women together with the fisheries ministry.
Fatoumatta Jawara Dukureh, foundation’s president, said: “We are supporting them to minimise some of the challenges they are encountering.”
Ajaratou Maimuna Sonko, a fish monger, commended the donor for the support, and called on others to emulate Maa Foundation for Women.
The spokesperson of the Banjul Fish Mongers Association, Njoba Jobe, and one Sanu Njie, also appealed for greater support.
“It’s very difficult for us to sell here more especially in the rainy season. Water penetrates all the place.”
