Bar association ends boycott

By Omar Bah The Gambia Bar Association in a communiqué sent to this medium yesterday called on all its members to return to work effective Wednesday. According to the release, the boycott of all courts in the Gambia ordered by resolution of a meeting of the general body of the Gambia Bar Association held on the 12th of December is lifted with immediate effect and members of the Bar may attend the courts effective on the 25thday of January. Members are also urged to correspond with their colleagues on the other side who may not be readily available and obtain mutually convenient dates in the best interest of the parties. It could be recalled that the Gambia Bar Association were the first non-governmental organization to condemn in the strongest possible terms the announcement by former President Yahya Jammeh’s to annul of the December 1st presidential election result after previously accepting defeat to President Adama Barrow.]]>
