The Standard has bumped on a request for permission sent to the Inspector General of Police, IGP, asking for permission to stage a peaceful protest against the holding of Saturday’s GFF elections. The letter signed by one Alpha Jallow said it is written on behalf of concerned stakeholders going by theme
Kick out corruption legends and fraudsters from our football. No retreat No surrender for justice.
According to the letter, the group is against the nomination and eventual participation of Lamin Kaba Bajo, Bakary K Jammeh and Ebou Faye in GFF Elective Congress, alleging that the trio are implicated in a alleged tax fraud investigated by the Gambia Police Force. They are also furious about accepting the nomination of Lang Tombong Tamba who they alleged was convicted of treason, a felonious crime that is not inline with the GFF constitution. The group is also demanding answers to why people they called 5 decent candidates of Malick Sillah camp are disqualified against what they called the fraudulent group of people. The Standard contacted the police public relations department through ASP Conta who said he is not yet aware of that but will furnish us with confirmation if that is true.
